January 04, 2008: Palin to Barberena, Santa Rosa, Guatemala
We started out north on the autopista from Palin - all was fine. Got to Amatitlan, and that was great too. Turned right and followed the lake for several miles, then had a good solid climb out. Finally got to CA-1, the Panamerican, and it was great - autopista, lots of lanes, not bad traffic. A few miles short of Barberena, it turned into the horrible version of a highway, 2 lanes, too much traffic, getting off all the time to get out of the way of trucks and buses. Looking for a new route tomorrow.
